Get involved in our research! We are dedicated to understanding how stuttering and the potential for adverse impact develops in young children. There are two options for interested families, in person or survey based.

More information about experiments:

  1. Our in-person experiments are fun and child-friendly. There are many different activities that your child will do when they visit the lab. They will see and talk about different picture scenes, answer questions, and play games. Families receive payment as compensation for their time and each child gets to pick out a prize at the end of the study. 
    • To participate in our in-person research your child must:

      • Be age 3-6 years

      • Speak English as a first/primary language

      • Have no hearing loss

      • Have no cognitive or learning difficulties

      • Display stuttered speech (repeat or prolong sounds/syllables)

  2. Families and children participating in our survey research will be sent links to surveys that you and your child can take at your convenience from your home/computer.
    • To participate in our survey research your child must:

      • Be 3-18 years

      • Speak English as a first/primary language

      • Be a child who stutters/displays stuttered speech (repeat or prolong sounds/syllables)
